Praecox are a spectacular fish, having a neon blue body and red fins. These are excellent fish. They are perfect examples of what the Praecox were when they first became available commercially in Australia. They are hatchery spawned, pond raised. Because they have been raised in the pond the body shape is perfect as is the colour.
Keeping and caring for rainbowfishes in captivity is reasonably simple as far as general aquarium conditions are concerned. They are one of the easiest fishes to maintain in captivity. They also possess all the attributes we look for in aquarium fishes. Ease of breeding, hardy, beautiful colours, peaceful disposition and they won't destroy your plants or move the gravel around in your aquarium. They come in a variety of sizes to suit almost any community aquarium.
Rainbowfishes have very similar breeding habits, their food requirements are similar, and water that suits one particular species will suit all. All are of good-natured temperament and will live harmoniously, more or less, with one another.

My Rainbows are now Parent! Review by Emma
Customer Rating I purchased 10 of these fish in about October, unfortunately I lost 6 of the 10. However, I noticed that those left were laying eggs in my community tank (on some java moss that was attached to some timber), but the other fish were eating the eggs. I moved the 3 females and 1 male into their own tank and now I have at least 100 baby rainbows (between 4-12mm) swimming around the top the tank.
Really impressed with these little fish :) The fish delivered coloured up quickly and didn't take long to get to breeding condition. (Posted on 7/05/11) -
Lively and colourful Review by Anne-Maree
Customer Rating Purchased 10 of these and all arrived happy and active. 24hrs later they are all starting to show a really nice shimmery blue colour and have a good mix of both males and females. This was my first online order and will be definately ordering again. (Posted on 6/03/11)

A Fantastic Edition to Any Tank Review by Emma
Customer Rating I purchased 10 of this little fish for my community tank about three or four weeks ago. This was my first online fish purchase and I was very pleased with the quality of the fish that arrived and the timeliness of the delivery. I received 4 males and 6 females (quite a nice balance) and was happy with the quality of the fish that I received. They quickly acclimatised to my tank and are all still happy and healthy. The fish are extremely active and beautiful. I have quite a deep tank (3-4 foot) and these fish school together nicely through the middle-top levels of the tank. These are a great edition to a community tank and one that I would have no problem recommending! (Posted on 9/11/10)

great fish thanks Review by Simon
Customer Rating I am very happy with my purchase of 10 neon rainbows. One was deformed (had no caudal fin) but otherwise it was a great batch of fish. I was especially impressed with how quickly and how much they coloured up - normally when you buy rainbows they don't have much colour and it can take months of good feeding before they colour up - these guys from live fish showed plenty of colour within a few days of arriving. I am very pleased with these lovely little fish and they were also a good size, thankyou. (Posted on 28/10/10)

Great price, OK service. Review by Scott
Customer Rating I ordered and received 10 praecox for a great price but this was balanced by slightly disappointing service.
The order took over a week to be processed, leaving me wondering whether it had been forgotten, but took less than 24 h to arrive once I received the notice of shipment.
One was in a bad way on arrival and was dead by the next morning. The rest were healthy and good specimens. This is the first loss I have had in at six mail orders, including marine. Only one of these previous orders was from Livefish, the rest from Perth and Darwin.
I was disappointed that I got only one male, having assumed that I would get a roughly even mix of male and female. A normal ratio for rainbows is 1:1 or 3:2 (male:female). I should have checked. (Posted on 26/10/10) -
