Although boisterous and liable to chase each other and other fish, they are good community fish and will not generally attack each other or other fish, although they occasionally nip fins, more by accident than design and will, like most fish, eat eggs and any fish small enough to fit into their mouths.
They are best kept in a tank long enough for their active swimming, preferably with a current from a power filter (or at least airstone) as they often live in fast flowing streams in the wild. Generally this also results in them being sub tropical with temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees Celsius (low seventies degrees Fahrenheit) often being fine, however they are good jumpers and a tight fitting lid is recommended.

Great Fish!!!! Review by Breanna
Customer Rating These little lads are such a great addition to a community tank, i received 10 of them a week ago, all arrived alive and they are all happy a healthy and loving chasing each other around!
They have so much personality and have made my other fish much more lively as well! They never fail to make me smile, Especially when i'm cleaning the tank and they race around and through my fingers!
I would definitely recommend Zebras!
Thank you Livefish!! (Posted on 11/08/11) -

a must Review by Brian Lim
Customer Rating This fish is a must in most community aquariums. They are fun to watch speeding through the top layer of the water. they breed quite nicely and would eat anything you give them. (Posted on 15/07/10)

cool fish Review by Jesse W
Customer Rating "These are really cool fish =) the school together around my 300 litre tank and when I fill my tank up (I use a hose hooked up to our rainwater tanks, because it would take all year to fill it up with just buckets LOL)they all try their hardest to swim through the current to get to the source of it all =) they are cute....
