The Paraguay Tetra is a small and striking schooling fish, recognised by its unique black markings and contrasting white spots near the tail. Growing to around 4cm, these peaceful tetras are perfect for planted community aquariums and display their best colours against dark substrates and lush greenery. Best kept in groups of 5–8 or more, they thrive in stable, well-maintained aquariums with subdued lighting and temperatures between 20–24°C. Paraguay Tetras are omnivorous and will readily accept quality flakes, micro pellets, and small frozen foods such as brine shrimp or bloodworms.

This striking pattern is best displayed in a tank with plenty of green plants and dark gravel.
