Catfish have no scales. All catfish, except members of Malapteruridae (electric catfish), possess a strong, hollow, bonified leading ray on their dorsal and pectoral fins, through which a stinging protein can be delivered if the fish is irritated.
Catfish are often described as being nocturnal creatures; in other words they are most active at nighttime. In general terms catfish prefer to dwell at the bottom of an aquarium (or at the bottom of rivers, lakes, streams and creeks etc in their natural environments). There are of course exceptions to this general rule, as some species of catfish occupy the mid to surface water areas of an aquarium, such as the Glass Catfishes and the Upside-down Catfish.
Providing hiding places for them is of utmost importance. With careful planning of your aquarium layout you can not only provide your catfish with hiding places, but you will actually have the benefit of seeing them as well. Suitable materials to use for hiding places include wood, rocks, slate, clean plastic pipe and aquatic plants.
Catfish generally are excellent tankmates for a wide variety of other species of fish.

Gold Spot Pleco Review by Savvy
Customer Rating The Pleco arrived on Thursday, with no complications. The Pleco does look very skinny but this might of been because of the stress of travelling. Has settled in fine, and seems very happy.
Thanks livefish! (Posted on 16/03/12) -

Awesome service and a healthy fish Review by Scott
Customer Rating I ordered one of these and received it two and a half days later happy and healthy, no dramas at all. Well worth the buy with mine being 7cms and looking very good, and being very active inside the tank straight away. (Posted on 1/03/12)

king of the tank Review by Daniel @ Mackay
Customer Rating this is a very beautiful pleco, very easy to keep with the only disadvantage that they can grow up to 21cm. so make sure you have a big enough fish tank.
gold spotted plecos are peaceful and not territorial, but they wont share any food with other catfishes.
i bought this fish 4.5cm long about a year ago and he's now around the 12cm mark. he still has a bit to grow if he wants to end up the king in my 6ft tank.
anyway i love him and a big thank you to livefish (Posted on 18/11/11) -

Different colour Review by Kerry
Customer Rating Im not sure if they change as they mature, but the two plecos I received are not like what is shown in the two images above. Mine are dark bodied with light markings, basically opposite of what is shown. Could pass for a bristlenosed cat at a glance. Not really what I was expecting for the name or the price. But yes, they are very cute. (Posted on 16/03/11)

Golden Spot Plecos Review by Nico
Customer Rating Hi All,
I got 2 of these guys a few weeks back now. These guys are sharing a tank with my African Cichlids and are going great guns. The Plecos turned up an where a little bigger than what they were listed as. My tank is 6x2x3 and have found it difficult to keep the glass clean, but wow do the guys rip into the algae and since owning them I haven't had to scrub glass.
Thanks again Livefish for another great Fish...... (Posted on 26/12/10) -

Customer Rating I got three of these for my tank 2 months ago and they are growing soo fast! They are very social and are always out - in my 6 food tank with lots of hiding spots i can always see at least one pleco if not all of them. They always come out every morning and evrey night when i feed the other fish to clean up any scraps (Posted on 9/09/10)
