Catfish have no scales. All catfish, except members of Malapteruridae (electric catfish), possess a strong, hollow, bonified leading ray on their dorsal and pectoral fins, through which a stinging protein can be delivered if the fish is irritated.
Catfish are often described as being nocturnal creatures; in other words they are most active at nighttime. In general terms catfish prefer to dwell at the bottom of an aquarium (or at the bottom of rivers, lakes, streams and creeks etc in their natural environments). There are of course exceptions to this general rule, as some species of catfish occupy the mid to surface water areas of an aquarium, such as the Glass Catfishes and the Upside-down Catfish.
Providing hiding places for them is of utmost importance. With careful planning of your aquarium layout you can not only provide your catfish with hiding places, but you will actually have the benefit of seeing them as well. Suitable materials to use for hiding places include wood, rocks, slate, clean plastic pipe and aquatic plants.
Catfish generally are excellent tankmates for a wide variety of other species of fish.

Good Review by Glen
Customer Rating Ordered 8 a month ago. As most know these are very very delicate fish but the ones from LiveFish have stood up to the "did they live a month" test (well most of them did which is far better than ones I bought from local stores).
They did take an extra day to be delivered but still arrived OK.
As for the actual fish, they are cute and are an excellent fish for cleaning plants. (Posted on 30/12/11) -
Otos are hard workers Review by Happyfish
Customer Rating Ordered three otos, one did not make it, so I had a refund. Great service.
I guess the travel roughen up the fish a little, after a couple of weeks of acclimatising they are doing great and their dark colour shows up.
The quality of the otos are great from live fish.
They dont do a great cleaning job, but very active, cute, a must have for community tank. (Posted on 12/12/11) -
Great addition to any tank Review by njenner
Customer Rating Bought 3 of these little lively fish and they're great.
Have tried keeping them once in the past and they didn't last more than a few days. The fish i received from LiveFish looked healthy and settled into the tank quite quickly after using the drip method to acclimatise them.
Continuously chasing each other around the tank and eating every bit algae they can find. (Posted on 1/10/11) -
Great Otos Review by Dianne
Customer Rating Bought one lot of 6 and was so happy I came back for another 9. Excellent quality fish from livefish, went straight to work after drip acclimating. (Posted on 6/09/11)

Otocinclus - BRILLIANT! Review by Dianne
Customer Rating The hardiest & healthiest Otos I've ever purchased.
After a very, very long and slow drip acclimatisation that took hours to fill the bucket, these little guys (I was very pleasantly surprised by their good size & fat well-fed bellies) were ready to go into their new home.
Without further ado they went straight to work grazing on the algae and haven't stopped since.
Although being super sensitive and prone to dying easily in the early stages (due to being wild caught in not very pleasant circumstances) and suffering many long & arduous journies before they arrive in here in Oz, I was greatly impressed with this particular batch of Otos and have ordered another x 9 from LiveFish who are to be congratulated on their brilliant condition (unlike so many LFS where survival rate, at best, is very, very low).
Do NOT attempt to put Otos in newly set up tanks, they must go into a well established tank with a good biofilm and algae present with pristine water, and a good flow at all times. (Posted on 22/08/11) -
Great Review by Lachlan
Customer Rating i Just ordered 2 of these to add to my current 2, they are very good at eating algae, its pretty much all they eat, they are the best at cleaning it off plants without harming the plant at all. Great addition to planted tank, but were quite pale for a while after I received them, they just needed time to settle in. Great quality from LiveFish yet again, thanks. (Posted on 1/06/11)

Adorable Review by chris
Customer Rating I love these to look at. Definitely happier in the company of their own kind. Sometimes dainty and can pass on for no apparent reason. Not particularly effective at cleaning algae in my opinion.
However good quality fish from live fish. (Posted on 6/02/11) -
