The Apistogramma cacatuoides is one of the world's most popular dwarf cichlid. This Apistogramma is especially striking because of its extreme and unique finance. The dorsal fin especially when raised can give this fish a crested look which is why it is often called the cockatoo cichlid. Though its body is usually a plain copper color the fins have a bright deep orange or red color with unique black patterning which contrasts greatly. One interesting thing to note is that this color form of the cacatuoides was created from selectively breeding the wild-colored form.

Great fish and great service from livefishThe little guy is so cute! Staff were so helpful in helping me get a male to go with the female I already had. He arrived with no issues and was healthy and well. Hes settled in nicely.

Great cichlid for community tankGreat little fish, plenty of energy and look great. Live fish were accommodating and got me a male and female. I keep the pair of these with two schools of tetras and 2 bristlenose catfish. Arrived in good condition and appear very healthy. Not 5 stars only because the males pattern isn't as brilliant as others I've had in the past, but does not mean I am unhappy with the purchase by any means. Highly recommended!

Good stockI ordered 3 double reds from this site and they arrived in shock (to be expected) but recovered extremely well. I ended up with 2 males and a female.
It's hard to tell now how well the boys will colour up but they do look pretty decent already so you can count me as one happy customer (good apistos are generally hard to find in AU).Posted on

small but amazingi got 3 of these and asked for 1 male 2 female and live fish got me what i asked for and great addition to my south American biotope tank. a bit shy at first but and were very health i love these guys so much and the male for a fish that was about 1.5-2cm he had magnificent pattern on his fins. very happy with product would recommend to any one with a south American or dwarf cichlid tank. get on with all my fish thank you live fish you have impressed me again
