Guppies are an amazingly striking and flashy little aquarium fish which makes them popular amongst many aquarium hobbyists would wide. Through the years of selective breeding and enhancing desirable traits in guppies hundreds of colour variations have been made. Where most of these guppies vary in bright flashy colours, the Black guppy steals the show with its jet black colour gradient and the splashes of greens and oranges from its Endler's livebearer lineage. unlike black mollies or platies, the back guppy is not a solid jet black, but they start off as a flat grey which is complemented by a jade green and streaks of orange.

Little beautyThis boy arrived with a bunch of other fish and his lady friend who I thought was going to be yellow but is possibly a gold neon?
He is so cute and comes to the glass when I am peering in he peers out :) Has a cute black nose too. All doing well in their quarantine tank after two weeks, so will get out soon.Posted on

lively and lovelyWhen it arrived it was a good colour and lively, although the water was quite cold but it had 2 days travel. When I put the bag in the tank the black guppy couldn't wait to meet my other guppies and when he was let loose they were all very friendly and quick to interact with me when I go near the tank. Thank you Live Fish

SadI ordered one of these and he was shipped with a red snakeskin guppy, and arrived after spending the whole day on the delivery van in 40 degree heat. Although my ember tetras and the other guppy in the same shipment were fine, this guy turned up with a big chunk taken out of his tail. He lasted a few days in my tank, but kept lurking at the bottom, possibly from stress? Then he got to the point where he couldn't swim anymore, and died. But I have also lost a few male guppies from local fish shops in the past few weeks, so I was probably partly to blame, besides the heat and stress.

Less is moreThe straight silver and black colouring of this fish still stands out no matter what else I've put in the tank with it.
