Siamese Flying Fox - Algae Eater

Siamese Flying Fox - Algae Eater 3.5cm

Crossocheilus Oblongus
Rating:
95% of 100

A globally popular fish due to its amazing algae-eating capabilities, the Siamese algae eater is a must-have fish for planted aquariums. Siamese algae eaters are essential clean-up crew members for well-planted tanks, ensuring that string and hair algae never get out of control. These fish are not exactly the most colourful fish and have earthy browns, silvers, and jet-black stripes from head to tail which gives them their characteristic look.

I now have two of these. They have plenty of algae to graze as well as loving sinking wafers and pellets. Great to watch them. They have made friends with my upside down catsfish .

Very disappointed, my main reason for ordering was to get these and the sales aswell.. Only to get message on day of postage that they were out of stock. On the upside the refund process was quick and easy.

I ordered 3, they’re small but beautiful. I couldn’t tell in the bag but once they were in my tank one had 3 spots of white spot on its body and white glazed over eyes. Highly disappointed as now my fish are all at risk.

The fish arrived safe and well. Although they were slightly smaller than advertised, they are thriving in my 90 litre tank and are now over 10cm. The disappointing thing with them - they don’t eat algae! Not the type that grows in my tank anyway.
