Humphead cichlids are an incredibly underrated African cichlid, it has an incredibly unique look, a great comical personality, and stays relatively small at 10cm. Humphead cichlids have a pretty large range out in the wild and they can be found through the Congo river and even in lake Tanganyika. These fish have a reduced swim bladder which means you’ll see them acting almost like a big goby often perched on a hardscape or just resting on the substrate. They can get along with other African cichlids quite well as long as their territorial needs are met. This will be a perfect species to highlight in a species-only aquarium and specifically if you have a large shallow aquarium that’s looking for an odd fish.

Big things come in small packagesThese guys are tiny at the moment, but arrived good and well! Colour is great (for their grey/ black camouflage colouring) had one of these guys a few years ago and he was great, energetic, had personality. Can be aggressive but I recommend!!!!

Don't let looks mislead youAlthough we don't have any at present, we had these characters for years. Exceptionally easy to breed, fantastically good parents. Not classically pretty, but have pretty blue eyes & definite character, only aggressive when spawning. Worth trying.
