awesomeArrived healthy, coloured up and fed within a couple of hours...within 4 days the two largest paired up and spawned. 5 days later and hundreds of free swimming fry. very happy

Great fishThe 2 Jewels arrived in under 48 hours and were very active. Better quality fish than from a local pet store, though are still juvenile so havent completely coloiured up yet. Were feeding within 15 minutres of being integrated into the the tank and were not hassled by the other cichlids in the tank. (these fish will be he scavengers of food in your tank, mine always seem to be well fed)

Looking Forward to seeing the mature colours in this little guyVery social little fish his always one of the first at the glass for attention. He gets so excited to see someone. Love his personality and immature colours are nice too. But really looking forward to seeing him fully develope.
Gets along socially and closely with other show offs in the tank! Excellent addition.Posted on

Great in my community tankTop fish, mine live happily with two ghost knifes and plenty of small fish like natives and blue rams as well as silver dollars and angels and a big gourami. Also a few huge sailfins and same baby sharks

Great fishThese arrived as part of my first live fish order from this site.
Ordered 4 as I wanted a good chance of a pair forming to breed and show their full colouration. Of the 4 , 2 are large and 2 smaller so with luck there may be an equal spread of male/female for me.
Fish were active and alert in the bags and after slow acclimation to my water conditions were released and eating frozen and small pellet food almost immediately.
Although a plain colour initially , 24 hours later , I can begin to see the flecks of colour in their bodies so bodes well for the future.
As a side note , I always had Jewel Cichlids listed as Hemichromis Bimaculatus as these are , but the Red Forest Jewels as Hemichromis Lifalilli.
Won't know for sure which species this is until full colour comes in at breeding time - the Red Forest are much brighter in colouration.
I've supplied these with a number of terracotta urns from this site ( as best price ) as these are a cave dweller and they eventually when they pair off will claim one for their own.
Be warned though , when they do decide to breed , you do not want other fish wandering near them , they are very good parents generally and will defend their brood vigorously.Posted on

Great and colourfulGreat fish adds a lot of colour to the tank bit of fighting with my electric blues on the first day but getting along fine now apart from the odd chase here and there

Frisky FishI ordered 5 on sale and all arrived healthy. Big difference in size between the 5 fish, but happy overall. Within 3 weeks they are developing their colours nicely, and one pair has already laid eggs, but ate them within 30 minutes. They have killed 4 of the swordtails that I bought in the same order, but they are known to be a bit aggresive. Good thing the swords were on sale too.

Expect African CichlidsSee in the review, where it says 'Due to their aggressive behavior...'? If you house these fish with neon tetras, small barbs or a small ghost knife, you will get exactly what you paid for- a wake up call.
