Halfbeaks are an incredibly underrated oddball nano fish, that are hardy, relatively peaceful, and a unique-looking species. They have a very close resemblance to the monster-sized garfish but only grow to a maximum size of 7 cm which makes them a perfect fish for smaller, tropical aquariums. Half beaks are also commonly known as wrestling half beaks as males tend to display a dominant display with each other. Historically these fish have been used in fighting competitions much like bettas have been where 2 males will be placed together to ‘wrestle’.

AmazingI bought one of these a while ago, he is now up to around 11" in length, not recommended for anyone that has a small tank nor a tank with lots of small fish as these guys will tear anything to shreds in the tank.
Highly Recommended to anyone with a 4ft tank or larger. I am keeping mine in a 5ft by 5ft, I how have 3 of them in one tank, currently have a separator for all 3 of them until the little ones get to around his size.
My new ones arrived in perfect condition, I have never received a sick or injured fish. They settled in right away. Highly Recommend buying!Posted on

Must read description.Looks like a great little fish, unfortunately I failed to notice in the description that they like hard, alkaline water, poor little guy was dead within 24hrs of being in my tank of soft, neutral water. If I would have seen this earlier he would have gone into one of my other tanks.

Four Stars for this little sizzlerThe Gold Half Beak is a real sea-dog as far as I am concerned. It will eat almost ANYTHING. I have one which has grown to be almost a metre long, on a diet of steak.
