The Demasoni Cichlid, Pseudotropheus demasoni, is a relatively rare cichlid, which originates from a rocky point called Pombo Rocks, within the waters of Lake Malawi located in Tanzania, Africa. The male of this species has dark blue or black vertical stripes with alternating lighter stripes of light blue to white. The male Demasoni Cichlid also displays the typical spots on the anal fin, and is considerably larger than the female. The female of this species is not as brilliantly colored, and lacks the spots on the anal fin, but still a beautiful fish.

Customer Rating Got four of these 6 months ago from livefish, travelled well, took a few days to adjust to new tank, in with larger electric yellows, electric blues and peacocks. seem to hold there own. three of them have grown in size one still the same size and hides a lot. would recommend great addition to any cichlid tank (Posted on 8/01/12)

Customer Rating These little guys are great. They all arrived alive and well in separate bags.
They are in a small 20l all in one tank about 50cm long. They lay in wait in the dence clump of Anubis in the center of the tank and come out to "Ambush" their food. Only other tankmates are a few Koolie loaches, who they mostly tolerate, only hassling them a bit at feeding time.
The bandits are mostly black and white ATM, but the larger of the 5 is starting to develop a tinge of blue. Highly recommend these fish for a species tank, they are a bit secretive though, but I do hope they breed ! (Posted on 2/11/11) -

Without any special treatment on my behalf i see i now have one new baby Demasoni :) I think i may have had more if they weren't in with somewhat larger cichlids. Customer Rating I purchased 4 of these guys 3 months ago. They were smallish but not far off the mark. I have 2 males and 2 females. They play all day and are great to watch. They come up for feeding and even take flakes out of my fingers. Very quick and dart around a lot. Very hardy fish. Can't wait to get more of these. (Posted on 29/07/11)

Customer Rating I recieved 5 of these little babies 5 days ago and was a little concerned about their small size when putting in with larger cichlids, but this was wasted as they go wherever they please! Customer Rating We bought two lots of these guys in two seperate orders. One when we first established our tank, and the other quite a few months later. Initially I was a little worried about having little guys in with 10-15cm cichlids, however they hold their own; are pretty daring and have GREAT colour. Customer Rating I already had 3 of these guys in a 4 foot (with about 80kg of rock) with some Melanochromis auratus so i figured some (10) more would look great. These guys were a little on the small side but they had good colour so it made up for it. Plus they gave me a brilliant male:female ratio
Just a warning to anyone else looking at getting them...They can be very VERY agro for their size. I wouldnt recomend putting them in with other cichlids unless you have tonnes and tonnes of hiding spots as they will shread your other fish when they get bigger. But great fish all round.
