The Kuhli Loach is generally a nocturnal and shy fish, which will like to find a hiding place during the day. However, they will readily come out at feeding time. They are very adept at locating bits of food in an aquarium, and are often included in an aquarium to ensure that there is no buildup of uneaten foods under rocks or wood.
If it is kept in small groups, the Kuhli Loach becomes a little more comfortable and will be seen swimming in and around piles of rocks, under and over pieces of driftwood or around stems of plants.
It is an excellent community fish that can be readily combined with a variety of other peacful aquarium fish species. A bizarre and unusual body shape makes these a sought-after species.

Lively, fun fish Review by Kate
Customer Rating I already had six of these guys from a local fish shop, and ordered three from here to add to their numbers.
They're such active little things! The ones from the fish shop hide all the time and only one will come out for feeding, but the ones I got from you spend most of the day out, playing and nosing around for tidbits. Sometimes they'll swim up to land on plant leaves before sliding off again. They're so much fun to watch!
They're a lovely dark colour, too. The original Kuhli's stripes are a milk-chocolate colour, whereas these guys are more dark chocolate. It's a great contrast against the cream bellies.
It's been two months since I ordered them and I'm still just as happy as when they arrived. Great little fish and good service! (Posted on 23/12/11) -

Customer Rating Loaches arrived securely packed, healthy and full of life. Now comes the fun part of trying to catch a glimpse of them as they come out of the rocks to feed..

Awesome Little guys Review by Seth
Customer Rating These loaches look awesome in my 650L tank. I bought 3 initially and they do hide a lot, but you I usually see them a few times a day. And they seem to be growing extremely fast too.
Would recommend (Posted on 5/10/11) -
great choice for a community Review by roobs
Customer Rating My kuhli loaches are now happily swimming around the bottom of my tetra tank. I have eight altogether and have to say they are always active and while shy, often pop out for a mad dash around the tank! (Posted on 3/10/11)

Khuli Loaches - Perfect!!! Review by Dianne
Customer Rating Arrived much smaller than I had ever seen, or expected but were, none the less, very healthy.
After drip acclimating them I intro'd them to their new tank and I swear they've trebled in size in just a few short weeks.
Fantastic clean-up crew for getting into all the nooks and crannies other clean-up fish can't - they go places even cories can't get to. (Posted on 22/08/11) -
Fantastic addition to any comunity tank! Review by John
Customer Rating These guys are Amazing, I ordered them, and then read the reviews. I thought I had made the wrong decision buying them as I had gathered they'd hide, and I'd never see them. HOW WRONG I WAS!
I ordered four (4) and they do nothing but laze around on the sand under the 18w light. I have the other end & back side of the tank heavily planted so there is MUCH more light there (4x24w), and they tend to hide under or in plants when in those area's.
They're so fun to watch. They'll also happily share Algea Wafers or any Sinking pallet with my two large Bristlenose.
I'm so impressed, I'm actually considering setting up a 4ft tank just for these guys and stocking it with 20 or more :D (Posted on 3/08/11) -
Excellent addition Review by Steve

thinner Review by chris
Customer Rating Got another 5 which were nowhere near as large as last time, more shoestrings. Suspect last time was giant variety and in general the fish at livefish are getting smaller. But can't complain. Healthy fish which are growing fast and nicely coloured for a good price. (Posted on 8/05/11)

little clowns Review by Asha
Customer Rating received alive. pretty shaken up and colorless when I opened the crate but they quickly changed back to a bright colour after they got into the heated water. they are like little clowns with their happy bright colors and the way they move around and seem to play. one of my my female betas has became fascinated with it and follows it everywhere when it is out of it's hiding spot! Cute, Useful, entertaining, easy. I like :-D (Posted on 17/03/11)

Great specimens/service! Review by Adam
Customer Rating My 3 Kuhlis arrived happy and healthy today! As expected, once acclimatised and released into my aquarium, they quickly found spots to hide in, and I haven't seen them since. I'm hoping once they settle in they'll show off those beautiful patterns a little more!
As this was my first order, I also have to thank LiveFish for excellent service, timely delivery and top-notch communication! I was unsure about the processing of orders at their end, before shipment, and my email about an e.t.a on shipment was answered within two hours of me sending it. You really can't beat that.
Obviously, they've found a return customer in me. (Posted on 24/02/11) -
Give them a place to hide ! Review by Tim
Customer Rating Yes, while these little guys are shy and very friendly to any other creatures nearby, they do like hide away for majority of the time. They will return much love to your aquarium by cleaning up after messy fish who have missed some of their meals but they adore shelter from the glaring, high powered lights we tend to use.
They also love company, so buy at least three or four. Did I say they LOVE a place to hide like a rock shelter?! I have a sandstone cave and they love it. I've just bought a bigger tank and I am going to put in some piping and tubing in the substrate because I know they will love to explore the tunnels.
They are also very hardy animals - as long as there is some free-falling food somewhere and even only every now and again (especially if you're above to turn tank light off for the night so they can come out for a munch) they are happy as Larry.. (Posted on 21/02/11) -

Happy and Healthy Review by melanie

Quaint Review by chris
Customer Rating I had 2 and got my 3rd from live fish which was bigger and of nicer colouration than the other 2. The size was thus that the loach couldn't invade the intake of my filter and die in there.
Recommended for the community tank if precautions (foam around filter intake) are taken to prevent loach loss.
Good quality fish from live fish. (Posted on 6/02/11) -
Awesome, when you can see them!! Review by Wendy
Customer Rating The only time i've seen them is when they were in the bag!! I have had them for a week and am still yet to spot them, but I do have quite a few hidy holes in my tank so guess they are taking full advantage.
I wouldn't recommend them however as you just can't see them enough to get any value. (Posted on 1/02/11) -
Love these guys Review by Michelle
Customer Rating I love Kuhlies..You need at least 6 of them for them to not hide away all the time. Seriously fast little fish when you need to catch one! (Posted on 12/12/10)

Great tank member Review by Erick R
Customer Rating These are one of the most unusual fish you will come across in a home aquarium. Great little workers, do a great job cleaning up un eaten food etc. They are nocturnal but as they are loaches they prefer to be in larger groups. I got 5 and they are quite active during they day and even more active after lights out. A must have for your community tank. (Posted on 1/11/10)

Now you see them, Now you don't! Review by adam
Customer Rating I must admit that i see my guys quite a lot. There is a couple of bunches of plants in my tank that they really like sitting in for some reason. But other than that, just like the literature says, they are great for keeping the tank clean. And boy can they move. Want a lesson in frustration? Try catching the little buggers.
A very pretty and unusual fish, and certainly worth having in many tanks. (Posted on 26/10/10) -
love these things Review by Duncan
Customer Rating they like to hide but when they get active they are fun to watch, we can watch them for hours (Posted on 26/10/10)

Secretive and delicate Review by Richard
Although this fish is very interesting, its shyness and secretiveness makes it less than desirable if what you want is a fish that will show off its colours and its activities during the daytime.
The kuhli loach will hide for weeks after you introduce him into a tank, and only come out seldom into the light. You see them ocassionally, darting about under the plants and among rocks.
They are also on the delicate side. I would recommend them only for the smaller tank. (Posted on 25/10/10) -
Best Loach Ever Review by Cass

Striped Kuhli Loach Review by grant
Customer Rating All arrived healthy and happy. They hide away very well in the tank and we hardly see them. May get a quick glimpse when we turn the tank light on in the morning and that's about it. Thought they must have been eaten to start off with as we hadn't seen them for months, but now see them from time to time. (Posted on 25/10/10)

Extremely shy. Review by James
Customer Rating The two times I've seen them are first when I put them in the tank and second, when I cleaned my canister filer and found all 3 in the bottom section.

The coolest thing in my tank Review by Lauren
Customer Rating These guys are a must in every tank. I have three in a 200L tank. Some times they can be hard to find but other times they are out swimming around at the top, it's like they are on speed!!
Great fun to watch!!! (Posted on 10/07/10)
