Is there anything more spectacular than a tank full of neon tetras? Probably not. Make sure your tank is heavily planted too - and you'll get a nice contrast of the neon red and blue of the tetras and the green of the plants.

Neon Tetra Spectacular consists of 50 neon tetras

The Neon Tetra has a dark olive-green back over a silver-white abdomen. The fish is characterized by an iridescent blue-green horizontal stripe along each side of the fish from its nose to the base of the adipose fin, and an iridescent red stripe that begins at the middle of the body and extends posteriorly to the base of the caudal fin.

Neon tetras are considered easy to keep in a community aquarium of at least 20 Litres, with a pH of 5.0–7.0 and KH of 1.0–2.0. However, they will not tolerate dramatic changes to their environment. It is said by some that Neon tetras should be kept with at least one other (preferably four others) of their kind, as they are considered "school fish". They tend to be timid and, because of their small size, should not be kept with large or aggressive fish who may bully or simply eat them. Fish that mix well in an aquarium are other types of tetras, such as the rummy-nose tetra, cardinal tetra, and glowlight tetra, and other community fish that live well in an ideal Tetra water condition.

Mid-level feeders, they are best kept in schools of five to eight or more, for the "shoaling" effect when they move around the tank. They shoal naturally in the wild and are thus happier, more brightly coloured, and more active when kept as a shoal as opposed to singly. Their colour and the iridescent stripe may become dim at night, and can be virtually invisible after a period of darkness. The colour may also fade during a period of stress, such as human intervention into the tank. Neons are best kept in a densely planted tank with subdued light and an ideal temperature of 20–24°C to resemble their native Amazon environment.

Tetras are omnivores and will accept most flake foods, but should also have some small foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and micro pellet food to supplement their diet.

Oh Oh!!!
These guys arrived healthy but were very small and unfortunately my other fish must have thought they were live bait/feeders and overnight I had lost all of them. I feel so bad but you live and learn. I love tetras but would definitely order them again at a decent size next time so the poor little fellas have a chance for survival!

Super!
These arrived promptly, only one dead fish, and the other 49 settled straight into my planted 6-ft tank where they look fantastic. Neons shoal more than school (loose groups, not tight), so they really fill out the tank nicely. Would thoroughly recommend this purchase.

Excellent fish, but a bit small
This was my first order with Livefish.com.au, and I received 200 Neon Tetras yesterday - they were in top condition, extremely well packed, but a wee bit small (around 1.5 cm), so I keep my fingers crossed that they don't wet the appetite of their discus tankmates. 6 passed away out of the 200, which is to be expected; and as our tank is 1,000 litres in size I will order more over time.

Great fish, a little small
Had ordered 200 of them and received them yesterday in top condition. They are a wee bit small though, around 1.5 cm, so hope the tankmates will not have a feast.

Great healthy fish
I ordered 5 Neons of various sizes to complement my existing school of 10. All the fish were remarkably healthy upon arrival and still are today (about a month after arrival). Great to look at in a school, very docile and love feeding time.

Should be given more credit
These fish are often referred to as the weaker counterpart to the Cardinal Tetra but are just as tough and just as amazing. I only had only death out of 50 which is absolutely amazing. The fish were quite dull when they were delivered but straight as they were put in the tank their colors brightened and the lit up my tank. Some that I received were quite large, approaching 3cm which is excellent for a pack of 50 where the size isn't the selling point.

Couldn't be more happier
I order 50 pack of Neon Tetras and only 1 was dead (not worried about this 1) and the rest of our order was made up of plants :)

I was so happy with the products that we recieved that I have just placed another order for more fish to fill our tank :)

I have told plenty of mates and showed them this website and i know that they will be placing an order too!!!

Neons are a very hardy fish...
Neons are more hardy than the 'Product information' on this site suggests.
I keep Neon Tetras (about 50 of them) in my turtle tank (approx 150 litres). The pH of this tank is 8.5 and the water hardness is very high, as I have 5 kg of calgrit (calcium carbonate) in the water (calcium for the turtles). The salt content of the water is also very high (5 grams of salt per litre of water).
The Neons (and Mollies) show no signs of stress, and are perfectly healthy (no fatalities have ever been noted (except for the odd one that the turtles eat).

Neon Tetra Spectacular (Free Shipping) My First Order
This was my first order so I had my doubts as to how well it would work out.
Fish arrived with first class packing and settled in my tank in 24 hours with only 3 out of 50 that died. That was about what I would have expected from my local aquarium.
I have just ordered some more!
